KUWAIT CITY, Aug 13:  The Court of Appeals recently overturned the verdict of a lower court and sentenced a GCC national to 10 years in jail followed by deportation for raping a 14-year-old girl, reports Al-Anba daily.
The lower court earlier abstained from passing a sentence against the suspect and released him on KD 100 bail and a good conduct pledge for 12 months.
Case papers indicate that the girl was in an elevator on her way to her tutor on the 17th floor of a building when the elevator stopped at floor 12 and the rapist committed the crime.

Drug trader held: Pers-9onnel from the anti-drugs department arrested an Asian man for trafficking in drugs and narcotics, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The trafficker was arrested in a buy-bust operation while selling narcotic pills and heroin to a police agent. The contraband and the trafficker have been referred to authorities.

Maid flee bid fails: An Asian housemaid was rushed to hospital with serious injuries following her unsuccessful attempt to escape from her sponsor’s home in Bayan, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The maid reportedly tried to climb down using a ‘rope’ made of bed sheets, but the rope snapped and she fell down.
