Create jobs for young men, women – Dashti Define youths’ role: MP
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 10: Youths greatly contribute to the economic, social and cultural development of any nation due to their dynamism, exuberance and creativity, says MP Dr Rola Abdullah Dashti.
Dashti made the statement Wednesday after congratulating the youths in Kuwait and other parts of the world on the occasion of the International Youth Day, which is celebrated on Aug 12 every year to recognize the youths’ efforts in developing the international community. She pointed out the youths also play a crucial role in promoting values, raising awareness on human rights protection, and spreading the culture of dialogue and respect for others.
“It is then necessary to give the youths more opportunities to participate in political, economic, social, cultural, technological and sports affairs, in addition to drafting programs or plans and the decision-making process. We have to address issues which directly affect them because the stability and security of any society are, to a great extent, linked with democracy, freedom of expression and respect for the rights of others. We have to protect the rights of the youths and ensure they are treated fairly since they are the future of the nation,” Dashti asserted.
While stressing the importance of tapping the creative potentials of the youths, Dashti also called for more job opportunities for the young men and women of this country to make them better contributors to national development. She urged the government, public and private sectors, civil society organizations, businessmen and investors to coordinate their efforts in creating effective youth programs to guarantee a bright future for them.
In another development, HH the Deputy Amiri Diwan Minister Sheikh Ali Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah has vehemently denied the accusation made by MP Musallam Al-Barrak that the Financial Sector at the diwan boycotted the parliamentary Public Funds Protection Committee meeting on Sunday. He explained the officials received an invitation on Aug 9 to the meeting slated for Aug 11, but they were not invited to Sunday’s meeting.
Sheikh Ali confirmed the diwan has submitted all the information and documents required by the committee members. “Al-Barrak should have been more careful in issuing the statement, because the Financial Sector officials have always been cooperative with the committee,” he said.
Meanwhile, Al-Barrak disclosed he sent invitations to Sunday’s meeting to the officials of the Financial Sector at the Amiri Diwan and the State Audit Bureau but only the latter attended the meeting. He also denied Sheikh Ali’s claim that the diwan has provided the committee with all the necessary documents. He added the officials promised to submit expense vouchers and list to the panel within two weeks but more than one-and-a-half month has passed but nothing has been done until now. “We are still waiting for the vouchers and list of expenses totaling KD274,000, because neither the committee nor the Audit Bureau knows how the money was disbursed,” he added.
