MP slams ‘calls’ to impose taxes ‘Enough worries’

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 5: MP Khaled Al-Adwah has reportedly rejected calls made by some people to impose taxes on citizens, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Some people had called on the parliamentarian suggesting legislation of a law on income and value added taxes or by increasing on fees paid for public facilities and services.
Al-Adwah said citizens have enough to worry about such as price hikes of commodities and the fall in the quality of services provided by government.
He added considering the rise in unemployment in the country, what should be suggested is free services for all citizens, rather than taxes.
He argued the low income earners and the middle class people form the largest denomination of the people in the country and they must be protected.
Meanwhile, in other news the Al-Seyassah said the Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) is currently studying how to improve the water services projects in the country, say sources.
The sources added renovating the current services will cost the state treasury KD 3 million and the work is expected to be carried out by a specialized company.
About three parts of the project have already been signed with the company.

CongratsRoland | 8/23/2011 10:57:56 AM Thank God there are Kuwaitis that think before talking. If only others were like MP Khaled Al-Adwah, Kuwait would beat up its neighbours.
