Expat not guilty in liquor peddling charges Bail frees man in trespassing sex with minor KUWAIT CITY, Aug 3: The Cassation Court supervised by Judge Mohammed Al-Salal acquitted a resident of the possession of liquor for trafficking purposes. The case file indicates a police officer on routine duty had seen the suspect leaning on a vehicle and suddenly, the man tried to escape when he spotted a patrol vehicle, so the officer chased and arrested him. Later, the officer conducted a search inside the vehicle and found bottles of drinking water filled with wine. Meanwhile, the suspect denied the accusation during investigations and said he only found a key on the ground, picked it up and entered a grocery, but the policeman followed him to the store and asked if a car parked outside the grocery belonged to him but he answered he neither has a car nor a driving license, then was arrested and referred to the concerned authorities. The defendant attorney Abeer Al-Fawaz argued the policeman wasn’t armed with warrant from the Public Prosecution to arrest the suspect and inspect him.
Thus, the procedure of arrest and inspection were illegitimate, besides, the charge of trafficking in liquor is inappropriate since no purchasing or vending was taking place when the suspect was arrested.
Hearing adjourned: The Criminal Court supervised by Judge Abdulrahman Al-Darmi summoned the officer in charge of state security case No. 6/2011 to appear in court on Aug 16 when the next hearing of Nasser Abul accused of abusing several Gulf countries on his Twitter page will take place.
The suspect denied all accusations before the Public Prosecution and explained in the presence of his attorneys Khalid Al-Shatti and Adnan Abul that hackers may have penetrated his Twitter account and posted the alleged abuses. He confirmed deleting the post from his I-phone. With regards to an article on making explosives on his desktop computer, Abul maintained the message is widespread.
Bail frees man: A judge ordered a Kuwaiti citizen to be released on a KD 100 bail after had been charged with breaking into a house and having sex with a minor. The girl alleged that the citizen came into their home when her father and his wife were outside. During interrogation, the defense lawyer said the girl’s father knew about the issue, although it was confirmed the plaintiff and defendant had an affair, whereas the forensics report indicated there were no bruises on the plaintiff’s body.
Appeal acquits man: The Appeals Court acquitted a citizen who had been charged for abusing a compatriot in public and canceled a KD 50 fined previously imposed on him by a lower court. The case file indicates that the defendant who works as an anti-piracy inspector had gone to the store belonging to the complainant to record possible infringement of piracy and copyright laws when he was abused, thrown out and prevented from performing his duty. Later, the store owner fabricated a story against the officer and brought false witnesses to the court to support his claim, so the lower court found the officer guilty and fined him KD 50.
