KTS calls to probe ‘abuses’ against the Kuwaiti teachers Society plans to file lawsuits over publication of report

KUWAIT CITY, July 30: The Kuwait Teachers Society (KTS) has asked Minister of Education and Higher Education Ahmad Al-Mulaifi to open an investigation and take a strong stand towards the repeated abuses committed against the Kuwaiti teachers, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
In a recent press statement, the society revealed some of the violations included the publication of a report on following up the performance of Kuwaiti male and female teachers, highlighting those with poor performance. The minister, who is a legal expert, must realize that such behavior is against the law, as well as the moral, educational and social traditions of Kuwait, the society pointed out.

Affirming its commitment to protect the rights of teachers, the society questioned the publication of a report on the poor performance of the Kuwaiti teachers, in addition to the good performance of expatriate teachers who deserve financial rewards. The society argued it is just proper to publicly announce the names of those who performed well in their jobs to serve as a motivation but the ministry should not have allowed the publication of the names of those whose performance was rated poor.
The society also reiterated its determination to confront any form of abuse against the teachers, both Kuwaitis and expatriates. It also announced its plan to file lawsuits to protect the teachers who have been wronged through the publication of their names.
