KUWAIT CITY, July 30: A Kuwaiti suffered minor burns when fire broke out in a house owned by the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) in Ahmadi recently. Firefighters from Ahmadi and Fahaheel fire stations, along with securitymen and paramedics, rushed to the location immediately after the Operations Room received information on the incident. The fire was declared under control in record time but it caused minor burns to a Kuwaiti, who was taken to a nearby hospital. Initial investigations revealed the cause of fire is electric short circuit. A top official at Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) has advised the public to install smoke detectors and fire extinguishers in their homes as a precautionary measure.

‘Driving is an art’: The General Traffic Department (GTD), in coordination with the Security Media Department at the Ministry of Interior, has launched an intensive traffic awareness campaign in all governorates to maintain discipline on the roads and strict compliance with traffic rules, such as driving within the speed limit, to guarantee public safety. In a press statement, the department disclosed the campaign kicked off on Thursday under the slogan “Reduce Your Speed and Calculate It Accurately”.

This resulted in the issuance of a large number of traffic citations. Leaflets bearing the campaign slogan and warnings that speed limit violation warrants three months imprisonment and fine of KD 100 were distributed to the motorists. Other penalties for this violation include the confiscation of driving licenses and impounding of vehicles. According to the calculations in the leaflet, there is no danger to the lives of the driver and other people if the time difference of speed limit violation does not exceed two minutes.
