Three youths in sports car assault, steal cash, cell phone from grocer Police arrest man with 11 bags of liquor KUWAIT CITY, July 29: An unidentified Iranian grocer who was badly beaten and robbed by three Kuwaiti youths in Salmiya has been admitted to the Mubarak Al-Kabir Hospital, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to eyewitness reports the trio got out of their sports car and entered the grocery and bought cans of Red Bull drink and paid the man KD 1 instead of KD 1.200. At this point the grocer allegedly said how is that people like you can afford to drive a sports car and don’t have 200 fils to pay me. The youths found this remark offensive and beat him mercilessly and destroyed several items in the shop and then stole KD 250 and escaped in addition to prepaid telephone cards worth KD 250 and the man’s cell phone. Then they removed the number plate of their car and escaped.
After gaining consciousness the man went to the Mubarak Al-Kabir Hospital and with the medical report went to the Salmiya Police Station accompanied by an eyewitness who is said to have taken pictures of the number plate of the vehicle before it was removed by the suspects. Police traced the car and arrested the owner who later took police to the two other accomplices. During interrogation the youths are said to have admitted to committing the crime.
Meanwhile, the Farwaniya police have arrested a 43-year-old man for possessing 11 polyethylene bags of locally-manufactured liquor, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. According to a security sources, the bootlegger was arrested by a police patrol. The man was allegedly carrying a bag and he was spotted by police while crossing a road. When the police asked the man to stop, he allegedly threw the bag on the road and started running. Police chased and arrested the man and on checking the bag they found the bags containing liquor. The bootlegger and the booze have been referred to the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh Police Station.
