Spoiled foodstuff headed for eateries, companies Policemen freed in Ramadan gesture

KUWAIT CITY, July 28: According to a report submitted by an unidentified inspector of the Kuwait Municipality to his supervisor, one trader who had sold the spoiled foodstuff to a cooperative society has offered to buy back the same foodstuff for one-fourth of the price value, reports Al-Shahed daily.
It has been reported the man has good connections and he plans to resell these foodstuffs to restaurants and companies.
A source added the Kuwait Municipality inspectors have come across large quantities of expired foodstuffs in the stores of three cooperative societies in three different areas. However, no action has yet been taken to seize these foodstuffs. All that the inspectors have done is they have requested the concerned officials to get rid of the foodstuffs.

According to reliable sources chairmen of the concerned cooperative societies are said to have put pressure on the Kuwait Municipality to give them time to destroy the foodstuffs at their ease.
This was disclosed by an unidentified Kuwait Municipality inspector who happened to overhear a conversation between a trader and a senior officer of one of the cooperative societies.
Meanwhile, upon orders of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense and acting Minister of the Interior, Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak, the ministry Undersecretary Lieutenant-General Ghazi Al-Omar is said to have issued a decision to release all members of the police force who were detained for disciplinary reasons, reports Al-Anba daily

The decision came as a goodwill gesture during the holy month of Ramadan.
And, firemen from the Salmiya Fire Center acting on information rushed to a commercial complex in Salmiya and put out a fire before it spread to other areas, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
In other news, the Farwaniya firemen rushed to a garage in Khaitan and put out a fire. No casualties have been reported.
