KUWAIT CITY, July 27: Police have arrested two young Kuwaitis - a man and a woman — for speeding, racing against each other, refusing police orders to stop, causing accidents and endangering the lives of other motorists, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. According to reports the couple in two separate cars was involved in a car race in Farwaniya, the Sixth Ring Road and the Airport Road. It was a cat and rat race during which they damaged several cars, drove over pavements and even against the flow of traffic. However, when finally they were forced to pull over, the man claimed the woman had stolen his car. Later during interrogations they discovered the woman was his girlfriend — a charge she denied.

In another development, a Kuwaiti man in his 30s died in a tragic road accident in Sabhan, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. According to reports the victim was driving a four-wheel drive and he allegedly lost control of his vehicle and collided with a trailer truck. The death was instantaneous. In other mishaps, an Asian woman died and many others sustained injuries in traffic accidents taking place in different locations of the country recently.

The woman died instantly and her compatriot suffered various degrees of injuries when two cars collided on Jamal Abdul Nasser Street. In another incident, a Kuwaiti citizen was severely injured in a two-car collision accident along Salmi Motorway. Three Egyptians were injured in different places of their bodies after a collision between two cars. Meanwhile, an Asian in his 30s was hit and severely injured by a motorist while crossing a road in Farwaniya area.
