Traffic dept forgery case to Prosecution Maids attempt suicide in 2 cases; Kuwaiti Woman harassed

KUWAIT CITY : Assistant Undersecretary for Labor Affairs in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Jamal Al-Dousari has referred the General Traffic Department (GTD) forgery case to the Public Prosecution to identify those behind the scam and bring them to book.

In a press statement after his meeting with the Interior Ministry officials recently, Al-Dousari lauded the cooperation between the two ministries in all areas, including the exchange of information. He confirmed the linking of the automated systems of both ministries has greatly contributed to the discovery of the forgery of documents at GTD.


KUWAIT CITY, July 25: An Asian housemaid tried to end her own life by drinking pesticide in the house of her sponsor in Saad Al-Abdullah. A team of security officers, along with medical emergency workers, rushed to the location after receiving a call from the maid’s sponsor. The rescuers took the maid to Jahra Hospital, while the officers started investigations to determine the actual circumstances that led to the suicide attempt.
Meanwhile, an Asian housemaid tried to commit suicide by taking a large quantity of medicine inside the house of her sponsor in Rawda on Sunday. Securitymen and paramedics rushed to the location after the Operations Room received a call from the housemaid’s sponsor, who found her unconscious in her room with an empty bottle of medicine beside her. When the rescuers arrived at the house, the maid was still unconscious, so they took her to Sabah Hospital. A case was registered and investigations are underway to determine the actual circumstances that prompted the housemaid to try to take her own life.

Man caught drunk: Police arrested an unidentified man for consuming alcohol with five bottles of local and imported liquor in his possession. While on duty in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, the officers got suspicious when they saw a car with tinted windows. They asked the driver to stop for inspection. They noticed he was under the influence of alcohol when he presented his identification documents. The officers then searched the car, resulting in the discovery of five bottles of local and imported alcohol. The man was referred to the concerned security authority for the necessary legal action.

Meanwhile, securitymen arrested an unidentified man for consuming alcohol with a bottle of locally-manufactured liquor in his possession. While patrolling along Abdally Motorway, the officers noticed the erratic movement of a vehicle. They signaled for the driver to stop for routine inspection. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officers realized the driver was drunk, so they searched the car thoroughly until they discovered a bottle of local alcohol. A case was registered and the man was referred to the concerned security department for the necessary legal action.

Smuggling bid foiled: Customs officers at the Kuwait International Airport recently arrested an Arab man who tried to smuggle two rolls of hashish into the country. The officers got suspicious of the behavior of the Arab man because he looked agitated as he approached the luggage inspection section. This prompted the officers to check his luggage thoroughly but they did not find any forbidden item. The officers then ordered him to go through body inspection, resulting in the discovery of two rolls of hashish in his pocket. He was referred to the concerned security department for prosecution.

Drug addict held: Salmiya policemen on Sunday arrested a Kuwaiti, in his 40s, for consuming drugs with one gram of heroin in his possession. While on duty in the area, the officers noticed the erratic movement of a vehicle, so they signaled for the driver, a Kuwaiti, to pull over. When the officers approached the vehicle, they got suspicious because the Kuwaiti looked confused. After asking for his identification documents, the officers realized he was under the influence of drugs, prompting them to search the car thoroughly until they discovered one gram of heroin.

Asian hurt in fight: A 31-year-old Asian man got injuries in different parts of his body after engaging in a fistfight with two other Asians in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh. Securitymen and paramedics were dispatched to the location immediately after the Operations Room at the Ministry of Interior received information on the fight. The injured was referred to Farwaniya Hospital and the other two Asians were taken to a nearby police station for questioning.

Woman harassed: A Kuwaiti woman, in her 30s, filed a complaint at Sulaibikhat Police Station against a man she accused of mobile phone harassment. The woman told police the man has been sending her lewd messages and ignored her repeated requests for him to stop. This prompted her to report the incident to the security officers. She provided police with the contact details of the man who will be summoned soon for questioning.
