Man absolved in murder bid on trio for making fun of him Bedoun seeks justice in police high-handedness KUWAIT CITY, July 25: The Criminal Court refrained from imposing a sentence on an expatriate accused of trying to murder his three roommates, fined him KD 300 and asked him to sign a pledge of good conduct for two years. Case files indicate that one of the roommates was sleeping when the accused stabbed him with a knife. He shouted for help and the other two roommates came to his rescue but the accused also attacked them. The three were taken to a nearby hospital, while the accused surrendered to police.
During interrogation, the accused told police his three roommates were making fun of him, so he got infuriated and stabbed them but he had no intention to kill them as he just wanted to hurt them in retaliation. Attorney Mohammad Al-Majdi, who represented the accused in court, argued the provocative acts of the roommates would have infuriated anyone and his client’s reaction was normal. The court ruled in favor of his client after ascertaining the latter had no intention to kill his three roommates.
Bedoun seeks justice: A bedoun man, identified as Abu Abdurrahman, through the Annahar daily is seeking the help of Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior Sheikh Ahmad Al-Hmoud, reports Annahar daily. The father told the daily four juveniles broke into his home and assaulted his son and caused him permanent disability. The father said he filed a complaint with the police and the case was referred to the Juvenile Prosecution. He added he was shocked when one day the police summoned his son, forced him to sign on a piece of paper that when he attempted to collide with the car of the victims, he was involved in a fight with the youths and he was injured during a fight. The bedoun said the police have also threatened to kidnap and rape his son.
Absconder caught: Police have arrested a Kuwaiti man who had been sentenced in absentia to three months imprisonment for possessing drugs, reports Alam Alyawm daily. The absconder was arrested while driving along a street in the Abdullah Al-Mubarak area late evening. Police have also allegedly seized from the man’s car fingers of hashish and a small quantity of heroin. The suspect said the drugs were for his personal used and not for trafficking.
Egyptian nabbed: Kuwaiti Interpol has handed over the 23-year-old Egyptian, identified only as Mukhtar A., to its Egyptian counterpart, reports Al-Anba daily. The Egyptian was wanted by the authorities in his home country to serve a three-year jail term for causing permanent disability to a compatriot.
Grocery robbed: Police are looking for three unidentified persons for breaking into a grocery shop in Salmiya and stealing KD 250 and prepaid telephone cards, reports Al-Shahed daily. In his complaint to the area police the Iranian grocer said the men barged into his shop, beat him for no reason and escaped with the loot. Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprits.
Shoplifter arrested: Police have arrested an Iranian man for shoplifting, reports Al-Shahed daily.
According to reports a CCTV camera caught the man hiding a DVD game inside his clothes. The incident happened inside a shopping center in Fahaheel. Personnel from the shopping centre informed the securitymen and acting on information police rushed to the spot and took the man to the Fahaheel Police Station.
Thieves caught: The Hawalli police have arrested two youths at Al-Sha’ab Al-Bahari for breaking into cars, reports Al-Rai daily. According to reports when police took the suspects into custody they were carrying a bag containing 8 Kuwaiti passports, wallets, identification documents, credit cards, duplicate keys and 10 cell phones. During interrogation the thieves admitted to breaking into cars. They added they used a kind of plastic substance which melts glass. According to police the men were also driving a stolen car.
Indecent exposure: The Nugra police during a security crackdown on residence law violators is said to have arrested 24 Ethiopians during a two-day campaign and referred them to the authorities, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. The daily said all those arrested are domestic servants and they had been reported absconding by their respective sponsors. Some of them were picked up from cafes and others from shops. Most of them were caught ‘hanging out’ in indecent clothes.
Theft from ambulance: Police are looking for unidentified persons for stealing a wireless device from an ambulance which was parked in front of the Mubarak Al-Kabir Hospital, reports Al-Shahed daily.
A police source it is a strange thing because the thieves will not be able to sell the device.
Kuwaiti women robbed: A Kuwaiti woman and her daughter have filed complaints with the Turkish police accusing unidentified people of snatching their handbags while shopping in a market in Turkey, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. The complainants said the handbags contained cell phones and valuable accessories.
