Police kills suicide bomber in Waziristan, 2 wounded ISLAMABAD, July 24 (KUNA) -- A suicide bomber was shot dead by policemen Sunday morning in South Waziristan tribal agency of Pakistan, bordering Afghanistan, and two policemen at least were also wounded in the blast.
Policemen, deployed at a checkpost in Shakai area of the agency, opened fire when they noticed a suicide bomber was approaching them, according to local authorities.
They told KUNA that the firing caused the explosive belt fitted around the bomber's waist to explode. There was a huge explosion, and the bomber's body was torn to pieces. The explosion also wounded two policemen.
Some local news channels said that a policeman was also killed and seven others were wounded. However, this could not be confirmed.
