KUWAIT CITY, July 23: The suburb of Khairan witnessed blackout for eight hours following the explosion of an electricity cable at one of the power stations, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. Following the explosion senior official from the Ministry of Electricity and Water was quoted as saying power cut off only four times so far during this summer can be considered a great achievement in 2011 compared to frequent power cut offs last summer. Some say the explosion was huge and was heard several kilometers away. The cable reportedly exploded due to overload in consumption.
