Ministry staffer accused of molesting his colleague ‘acquitted’

KUWAIT CITY, July 17: The Appeals Court upheld the decision of a lower court and acquitted a ministry staff of molesting his colleague during official working hours. The complainant was about to leave the work place after going through the fingerprint attendance system when the suspect allegedly held her from behind, so she screamed and ran off to call the husband after telling the supervisor about the incident. However, the suspect denied the charges, saying the complainant became mad and chased him out of the room after he asked her for a favor.

‘Accused’ not sentenced: The Criminal Court refrained from punishing an individual accused of the possession of hashish and alcohol for consumption purposes. The defendant was asked to sign an undertaking of good conduct for a year, in addition to a KD 200 bail bond. The case file indicates the suspect was arrested in front of his house after family members informed the Operations Room of his activities. Police are said to have found him heavily intoxicated when they arrived at the scene, and he was taken into custody. The defendant lawyer Faisal Al-Rasheedi said the police couldn’t find any illegal substance on the suspect after a search was conducted on him. Moreover, he neither drank alcohol in public nor disturbed public peace.
