MEW acts to shorten response time to emergency situations

KUWAIT CITY, July 15: The Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) has assigned more technicians and distributed 13 additional vehicles to its emergency units in a bid to shorten the response time to emergency calls, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting sources.
Sources revealed the ministry has also increased the number of employees in the hot line center to receive complaints. Sources confirmed the Distribution Sector has established additional emergency units in different areas to quickly respond to complaints.

Admitting the ministry faced a shortage of drivers after the distribution of additional vehicles to the emergency units, sources affirmed the problem has been solved through an arrangement with some companies to provide experienced and competent drivers. Sources added there are 12 emergency units in the country, in addition those which opened recently in Jahra, Abdullah Al-Mubarak and Sabah Al-Salem.
On the other hand, sources said some companies and individuals with accumulated energy bills have not completed the payment procedures due to the absence of some top ministry officials. Sources added the ministry would have collected KD 200,000 from these consumers, indicating it might be difficult to collect the payments again.
