Visa transfer from 18 to 22 & Vice Versa

I have been working with my current sponsor (local transfer) on work Visa 18 for over 6 years and my contract is expiring soon. I have a university degree and am planning to transfer my residence to dependent Visa 22.

I would like to know what is the current procedure. Is it possible to transfer residence from dependent Visa 22 to work Visa 18 in case I find a new job within a year? Do I have to leave Kuwait? I’ve been in Kuwait for more than 10 years.

Name withheld
Answer: All you need is a release letter from your current employer to transfer to a dependent residence. Even if he doesn’t give the release, you won’t have any problems getting one from the Labor Dept as you spent 6 years with your current firm and you can get a release after one year of a local transfer.

Secondly, as you are a university graduate and spent so long in Kuwait you won’t have any problems transferring back to Article 18 residence.
