Two men acquitted of molestation charges KUWAIT CITY, July 14: The Criminal Court acquitted a Syrian man of kidnapping and molesting a female compatriot. Case files indicate the woman’s father said he looked for his daughter immediately after finding out that she went out with the accused. His other daughter found the phone number of the accused, so he called him and the latter told him that he just accompanied the woman to the house of a friend. The woman later disclosed that she went out with the accused to discuss their marriage plans.
The lawyer for the accused argued in court that his client had a relationship with the woman. However, he realized she was too young for him and he ended the relationship. This might have prompted the woman to file a case against his client. He then asked the court to acquit his client because the case has no legal merit.
Meanwhile, the Criminal Court acquitted an Arab man of molesting an Asian woman.
Case files indicate the woman claimed the accused arrived at the house of her sponsor in March, 2007 to repair the washing machine. She guided him to the basement where the machine was located. Upon realizing that her sponsor was not around, the accused allegedly started touching her private body parts, pinned her on the wall and kissed her against her will. He then gave his number and begged her not to inform her sponsor about the incident.
However, the lawyer for the accused urged the court to acquit his client due to lack of incriminating evidence and the inconclusive investigation results.
After studying the pieces of evidence and arguments presented by both parties, the court ruled in favor of the Arab man and affirmed his innocence.
