Court ‘adjourns’ until Sept 14 PM’s bank cheque issue case Four tons of spoilt fish confiscated

KUWAIT CITY, July 13: The Appeals Court adjourned the case involving MP Faisal Al-Muslim and the official of Burgan Bank, relating Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad’s cheque issue, until September 14 when witnesses are expected to be present in court.
The Public Prosecution accused the duo of leaking confidential bank information after a cheque belonging to the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad was made public by MP Faisal Al-Muslim, in the presence of members of the Parliament.
Earlier, the Court of First Instance acquitted Al-Muslim and the bank staff of accusations of betrayal of trust but convicted them on charges of leaking bank secret. The court fined them KD 200,000 and ordered the official to be expelled. It also ordered the defendants to pay temporary compensation of KD 5,001.

5-year-jail overturned: The Appeals Court decided not to punish a citizen previously convicted of assault and robbery and sentenced to 5 years imprison. Instead, the court ordered the suspect to sign an undertaking of good conduct for one year, with a KD 200 bail bond. The man was accused of beating an expatriate and stealing an unspecified amount of money from him, in the course of which the victim suffered various injuries.

Court dismisses case: The Court of First Instance dismissed a case filed by a Kuwaiti man against a female compatriot he accused of non-payment of debt.
Case files indicate the plaintiff had an agreement with the woman to enter into a business venture but things did not go as planned, so he asked the woman to pay him KD30,000.
However, the court ruled in favor of the woman and dismissed the case due to lack of legal merit.

Four tons of spoilt fish confiscated : Acting Director of Imported Food Department Abdulmohsen Al-Mutairi said on Wednesday that four tons of imported spoilt fish from one of the neighboring GCC countries was seized at Al-Nuwaiseeb exit point.
Speaking to Kuna, Al-Mutairi noted that the department’s inspection team confiscated the cargo and destroyed it because it was unfit for human consumption due to change in its natural properties.
“High temperatures, transportation over long distances and not being kept in cool place are some of the main reasons behind rotten fish,” he explained.
He urged to take weather conditions in consideration when transporting food in order to maintain its safety.
