Securitymen ‘arrest’ army officer for refusing to pay KD43,000 loan Kuwaiti woman abused

KUWAIT CITY, July 11: Police arrested two youths for the possession of an undisclosed quantity of narcotic pills. While patrolling on King Fahad Motorway, the officers noticed the erratic movement of a vehicle, so they signaled for the driver to pull over. When they approached the vehicle, the officers got suspicious becaused the driver and his companion — both teenagers — looked agitated. They searched the car thoroughly, leading to the discovery of some narcotic pills. The youths were referred to the relevant security department for prosecution.

Storeroom on fire: Fire gutted a storage room for iron in Amghara scrapyard, causing shortness of breath to an Egyptian laborer. Firemen, securitymen and paramedics rushed to the location immediately after the Operations Room at the Ministry of Interior received information on the incident. The fire was declared under control in record time, while the Egyptian was taken to Jahra Hospital. Investigations are underway to determine the actual cause of fire.

Woman abused: A Kuwaiti woman filed a complaint against her neighbor and his son, who allegedly abused her verbally and threatened to hurt her. The woman told police she had a heated argument with her neighbor over a parking space in Sulaibiya. However, the neighbor and his son threatened to hurt her and shouted expletives at her, so she reported the incident to Sulaibiya Police Station. The neighbor and his son will be summoned soon to verify the complaint.

6 illegals held: Officers from the Capital Security Directorate continued a massive campaign against expatriates staying illegally in the country as part of the Interior Ministry’s commitment to track down those who failed to avail of the Amiri amnesty. The campaign led to the arrest of six expatriates with expired visas and they were referred to the concerned security department for the necessary legal action.

‘Officer’ held: The security authorities have arrested an unidentified army officer in the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel for refusing to abide by a court verdict according to which he had to pay KD 43,000 to a soldier who was under his command, reports Alam Alyawm daily. The officer reportedly abused his authority and forced the soldier to get a bank loan and hand over the money to him. The Lieutenant-Colonel has allegedly refused to return the money in spite of the final court ruling. Attorney Al-Hamidi Al-Sabe’i has appealed to the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak to help solve the problem of his client.
