Kuwaiti pilot released after 3 days

KUWAIT CITY, July 9: The Ministry of Interior announced the release of a Kuwaiti pilot who was arrested a few days ago at the Kuwait International Airport for allegedly insulting and attacking customs officers, reports Al-Anba daily. The pilot, identified only as N.M., was detained for three days in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh Police Station. He was also made to undergo tests to check if he was under the influence of alcohol, and faces charges of insulting public employees.

Lawyer Khaled Al-Owaihan said his client was shocked when customs agents asked him to open his luggage in a provocative manner and picked up a fight with him. Al-Owaihan appealed to the interior minister to open investigations as the publication of his client’s photos damaged his reputation. The pilot insists that he is innocent and says he neither drank alcohol nor did he have liquor bottles in his possession.
