Police arrest 13 illegal Asian workers 7 held for violating smoking ban at airport KUWAIT CITY, July 7: The Mina Abdullah policemen have arrested 13 Asian workers for violating residence laws, reports Al-Rai daily. According to reports this happened when one man was involved in a fight with his compatriot and the former filed a complaint with the police. The man who was arrested then allegedly made a deal with the police to show the hiding place of a large number of illegal residents in return for releasing him. The securitymen pretended to accept the deal and acting on information raided the hiding place of the suspects inside the Fahaheel Industrial Area, arrested the men and referred them to the authorities. It has been reported all the arrested persons belong to the nationality whose entry is banned by the law.
No-smoking ban violated: Seven people have been referred to the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh Police Station for violating a ban on smoking in public places and ministries, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to reports the suspects were caught red-handed during a surprise inspection campaign led by a security officer inside the Kuwait International Airport.
The seven persons were caught inside the ‘Arrival’ lounge at the airport.
The daily added a case has been registered against them and fined KD 50 in line with a Cabinet decision.
Egyptian extradited: An Egyptian man, identified only as H.A, who had escaped to Kuwait has been extradited to his country under police guard, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to reports the suspect was wanted by law in Egypt in a case of murder and possessing an unlicensed gun.
Workers find explosives: Manager of the Construction Program at the Kuwait University Dr Rana Al-Faris said several explosives and ammunition rounds were found by workers while digging during the construction of the Sabah Al-Salem University Hostel, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
Al-Faris added the work continues in spite of the presence of these explosives which are being discovered from time to time.
She added the project is expected to be completed on time at the same time taking into consideration the safety of the workers.
Al-Faris added these explosives are believed to be remnant of ordnances left behind by the defeated Iraqi army in 1991.
Firm's store set on fire: Police are looking for arsonists for setting fire to a company store belonging to a Kuwaiti man, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The daily added the store was located in the Capital Governorate. According to a fire officer, after dousing the fire, firemen found a canister containing inflammable substance inside the store.
Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the arsonist.
