Bahraini PM welcomes Sheikh Nasser’s visit; ties deep-rooted Kuwait’s PM meets Qatar Deputy Amir MANAMA, July 7, (KUNA): Bahrain’s Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa said that his country and Kuwait are united by deep-rooted and brotherly ties that make this relationship, a model for integration and work for mutual benefits.
Prince Khalifa made the comment ahead of the upcoming visit to Bahrain of his Kuwaiti counterpart HH Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
Talks between the two countries aim to support cooperation under all fields on the official public and private sector scales, and efforts to open up channels leading to this, he said.
Prince Khalifa expressed Bahrain’s gratitude for Kuwait’s position on its security and stability, while hailing Kuwait’s contributions to Bahraini development, and its support of Gulf Cooperation Council and Arab joint efforts.
He said Bahrain would stand side by side with Kuwait and the other GCC states on seeking to enact the role of the Gulf union in a fast-paced world.
Bahrain is also keen on coordinating and discussing the developments and changes of regional and international affairs in a means that enhance the security and stability of the region, tackling challenges that threaten to undermine this stability, he said.
Meanwhile, His Highness the Prime Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah met the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani at the Amiri Diwan in Doha on Thursday.
The Prime Minister extended to his Qatari host the greetings of HH the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Amad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Kuwaiti people.
The meeting discussed bilateral relations, the latest endeavors of the Gulf Cooperation Council, developments on the regional and international fronts, and the two countries’ positions towards them.
Sheikh Tamim held a luncheon in honour of the visiting Kuwaiti premier.
In the meantime, His Highness the Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah concluded his two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates on Thursday, part of a GCC tour.
The Premier was seen off upon departure from Abu Dhabi International Airport by Deputy UAE Premier and Minister of Interior Lt. General Said bin Zayid Al Nuhayyan.
His Highness Sheikh Nasser had been hosted at Al-Rawda Palace in Al-Ain, Wednesday, by UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayid Al Nuhayyan. The president stressed the strong relations between the two GCC countries and the productive cooperation they maintained.
The president further noted that the GCC tour of the Kuwaiti premier would help boost cooperation and coordination and strengthen GCC unity and joint action.
Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and his entourage paid a cordial visit to UAE Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Sheikh Nuhayyan Bin-Mubarak Al Nuhayyan Wednesday evening.
The visit by His Highness the Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah featured high in the UAE press on Thursday, upon his visit to the country part of his GCC tour.
Al-Ittihad paper ran a headline quoting the president stressing eagerness to receive Kuwaiti and GCC officials to bolster joint action and noted there was a very fruitful level of cooperation and coordination between the two nations. The visit, the president said, would surely push relations and cooperation to even higher level.
The paper shed light on His Highness’ meetings and the ceremonies at which he had been hosted by the top UAE officials.
Al-Bayan paper meanwhile ran a headline focusing on His Highness’ meetings and talks and the UAE leadership’s eagerness to bolster cooperation.
As for Al-Khaleej paper, it also focused on the PM-UAE leader’s meeting, talks, and the fact that the level of hospitality and warmth offered were inspired by the strong relationship between the two states and people, and are thus expected.
Kuwaiti Ambassador to Bahrain Sheikh Azam Mubarak Al-Sabah affirmed on Thursday that His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah’s upcoming visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain is an embodiment of “brotherly connections.” The Kuwaiti ambassador told KUNA that the deep-rooted bilateral ties between Kuwait and Bahrain are based on mutual support and cooperation to achieve the best interest for both countries.
He also noted that the Kuwaiti-Bahraini relations have been strengthening throughout the years, referring to the two countries crises of the 1990 Iraqi invasion of Kuwait and the recent Bahraini political unrest.
