PM meets Sultan Qaboos on the second leg of his Gulf tour Sheikh Nasser conclude Saudi visit MUSCAT, July 5, (KUNA): Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al-Said received on Tuesday at Al-Baraka House His Highness the Prime Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, Sheikh Nasser conveyed greetings by HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Kuwaiti people to the Sultan, expressing best wishes and prosperity to the Omani leadership and people.
The meeting also highlighted ways of boosting bilateral cooperation in various fields for the benefit of the peoples in both countries.
Furthermore, the meeting tackled issues of mutual concern, developments in the region and international arena.
The meeting included Omani officials and Sheikh Nasser accompanying delegation.
Later, a one-on-one two-hour meeting took place between Sultan Qaboos and Sheikh Nasser.
Sheikh Nasser also held official talks with Oman Deputy Prime Minister for Cabinet Affairs Fahad Bin Mahmoud Al-Said.
The meeting covered bilateral relations which were based on the foundation set up by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al-Said, including the progress achieved at all levels between the two countries.
The talks delved into current developments in the region and international arena, in addition the two countries’ stance regarding such developments.
Later, the Omani Deputy Prime Minister for Cabinet Affairs hosted a dinner banquet in honor of His Highness the Prime Minister of Kuwait, which was attended by Arab and Western diplomatic representatives in Muscat.
Earlier, His Highness the prime minister along with the accompanying delegation arrived in the Omani capital on Tuesday, amid his tour od GCC countries.
Upon arrival, HH Sheikh Nasser was received by Omani Deputy Prime Minister for Cabinet Affairs Fahad Bin Mahmoud Al-Said, Minister of Diwan Affairs Khalid Bin Hilal Al-Bousaidi, Oman’s Foreign Minister Youssef Bin Alawi Abdullah, Minister of Justice Mohammad Bin Zaher and Kuwait Ambassador to Oman Salem Al-Zamanan.
On arrival, Sheikh Nasser expressed pleasure for the visit and expressed his heartfelt sentiments toward the Omani people, as well as expressing appreciation and wishing them prosperity and success.
Sheikh and his accompanying delegation concluded, Tuesday, the official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which lasted for two days.
His Highness had met with Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdelaziz Al-Saud during his visit.
He had also performed the rituals of Lesser Pilgrimage (Omrah) in Holy Makkah, at dawn Tuesday, along with members of the Kuwait delegation.
Upon his arrival at the Holy Mosque in Makkah, His Highness was received by head of the Grand Mosque security forces Col. Yahya Al-Zahrani and a host of Saudi officials.
His Highness was later received upon arrival in Al-Madina by Madina Amir Prince Abdelaziz bin Majid bin Abdelaziz Al-Saud. Sheikh Nasser visited and performed prayer at the prophet’s mosque.
Kuwaiti Charge d’Affaires in Saudi Arabia Chancellor Theyab Al-Resheedi affirmed the success of His Highness the Prime Minister’s visit to Saudi Arabia. Al-Resheedi told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) Tuesday after the departure of HH the Prime Minister and delegation accompanying him after a two-day visit to the Kingdom.
Acting Charge d’Affairs in Abu Dhabi Abdulnasser Bukhador affirmed that His Highness the Prime Minister’s upcoming visit to UAE, on Wednesday, comes as an assertion of “strong” bilateral relations between the two countries.
Speaking to KUNA on Tuesday, the Kuwaiti diplomat said that the state of Kuwait and UAE have deep-rooted relations.
The Kuwaiti premier’s current gulf tour is an embodiment of the noble goals of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) which gained importance due to the recent developments in the region.
The formal and informal bilateral ties between Kuwait and UAE get the utmost attention of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nihyan, he said.
He further added that the unilateral ties can be further expanded in the domains of development and economy to sever the best interest of the two countries.
Bahraini newspapers’ editors-in-chief lauded on Tuesday His Highness the Prime Minister’s “important” visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
In various statements to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the Bahraini editors-in-chief affirmed the “importance” of this visit, which came during a time of which they described needed more “cooperation and understanding
The Kuwaiti premier’s visit reflected the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries’ interest in ensuring “stability and peace” in the region.
They added that because of this “mutual cooperation and coordination”, Bahrain and Kuwait emerged intact out of past crises, making reference to the 1990 Iraqi invasion of Kuwait and the political unrest in Bahraini in the past few months.
They also noted that the visit would aim at promoting a comprehensive GCC integration in all field, especially the economic and military ones, to achieve the best interest of all gulf nations.
