GCC mobile roaming charges cut starts Reduction in range of 40-60 pc RIYADH, July 2, (KUNA): The recently approved second phase of mobile roaming charges reduction among Gulf Cooperation Council member states has taken hold with the advent of July.
In a press statement Saturday, GCC Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Affairs Abdullah Al-Shebli said the decision was approved on June 22 during a three-day meeting of the telecommunication regulators of the six GCC state.
The cut would be in the range of 40-60 percent, but any GCC telecom service provider can make bigger slashes, he said.
The first roaming charges cut was put in place on June 8, 2010 upon a GCC ministerial resolution following late last year meeting of the telecom providers in GCC state which was held in Kuwait.
