The Western Union-Al Muzaini Exchange bowling team
Klasmeyts brush aside East West Siete Pares, WU-Al Muzaini top 9th week rivals

KUWAIT CITY, June 30: Past the halfway mark of the elimination round of the on-going 2011 PBAK-BEC MoneyGram-SMDC Summer Tenpin Bowling League being held at the Cozmo Bowling Center in Khaifan, Klasmeyts Al Khadda Kana booked a scintillating victory as they brushed aside the highly touted East-West keglers in a high scoring match. In the other featured matches, the fast closing Siete Pares continued its winning streak and not to be discounted was the superb performance of the Western Union-Al Muzaini Exchange pin busters. The ninth week of qualifying also witnessed majority of the leading contenders for an outright entry into the championship round hurdle their respective assignments without a hitch except for the two front runners World Class and the K2E2 Thunders who suffered separate stinging setbacks.

Coming off from an 8th week loss, a rejuvenated Klasmeyts Al Khadda Kana Controls pin crushers showed up for their match opposite the lane masters of East-West hungry for victory. As expected the two protagonists bowled toe to toe right at the opening frame of the first game of the 3-game series match. But as the smoke of the sizzling game cleared out, the score showed Klasmeyts KK emerging a clear winner via a 1,069-991 count. In game 2, the energy level of East-West somewhat dropped a few notches allowing the Klasmeyts KK crew who maintained their sterling form to walk away with another 988-921 victory. Like watching a replay of game 1, the two teams once again burned the lanes with their fiery brand of bowling but unfortunately for East-West, the day belonged to Klasmeyts KK who completed a sweep with another 1,036-980 success in game three.

Led by Bong Bermillo, Bene Crucero, Romy Fermil, Rudy Zablan, Emma Gatus and Janet Shaikh, Klasmeyts went home with the weekly high series award and a final winning tally of 3,118-2,892. Meanwhile, Siete Pares sustained its meteoric rise in the team standings by breezing past the lightly rated BEC-Nusantara squad 3,096-2,558. Fresh from their winning stint last week over erstwhile league leader K2E2, Siete Pares poured everything they’ve got on their way to three straight walk in park victories over the hapless BEC-Nusantara. The Western Union-Al Muzaini Exchange remitters on the other hand rolled the only other above 3,000 pin falls score in posting their hard earned 3,008-2,882 win over the green thumbs of LEAF. With two consecutive wins behind them, LEAF headed by Rey Ualat, Lito Mercado, Cris Carungay, Joe Presenta and Marjorie Mercado started strong and sharp to turn back their rivals in the tightly contested opening game 1,007-970. Looking at the matches involving the two pace setters, the sound masters of BOSE who were finely tuned to the right frequency in their match against league leader World Class had no trouble eking out their convincing 2,935-2,681 upset win. Despite being the underdog, BOSE was not intimidated by the reputation of their rivals but on the contrary looked more inspired as indicated by their sweep of all three games of the match via 971-896, 969-925 and 970-860 game scores. Responsible for the remarkable feat of BOSE were Bob Navarro, Eddie Pena, Edgar Pascua, Joel Tizon, Pilar Villanueva and Sam Behbehani. Going to the match between deposed leader K2E2 and Megaworld, the real estate magnates composed of George Bouchebel, Mandy Manalo, Jess de Vera, Norie Sairat, Rene Marzan and Myrah Manalo built a commanding lead through a 954-878 win in game one followed by a modest 878-841 edge in game two. The K2E2 quintet of Boy Lorino, Danny San Juan, Edwin Latoja, Joan Balla, and JR Sabado tried to reverse the outcome of the match in game three in their effort to salvage the number one post but their 931-864 victory in game three was not enough to deny Megaworld a 2,721-2,650 total pin falls win.
