Intense security campaigns target illegals as amnesty ends GID set to fight ‘begging’ phenomenon during Ramadan

KUWAIT CITY, June 30: Police will set up checkpoints at various places and will launch intense security campaigns across the country to arrest residence law violators who did not avail of the four-month amnesty period, said a source in the security sector.

The amnesty offer which allowed residence law violators to either leave the country without paying fines or legalize their stay by paying fines was valid from March 1st until June 30th.
A security plan has been prepared to deal with such violators, the source said, adding the Security Sector of the Immigration General Department, Criminal Security Sector, Operations Sector and the Jails Sector will take part in the plan. They will setup checkpoints and raid places frequented by residence law violators to arrest and deport them, he noted.

Meanwhile, the General Immigration Department is set to fight the ‘begging’ phenomenon during the fasting Holy Month of Ramadan, reports Al-Anba daily.

The daily added the Ministry of Interior will take strict action against the sponsors if anyone under their sponsorship is caught begging for alms irrespective of the sponsor is Kuwaiti or expatriate.
The daily added during Ramadan many people enter the country on family or visit visas with the main purpose of begging for alms. Persons caught begging will be deported from the country and banned from entering again.
The sponsors will be denied visas in future, the daily added.
