Restaurant ordered to pay compensation to customers Court nullifies expulsion of student
KUWAIT CITY, June 28: The Misdemeanor Court ordered a famous restaurant to pay KD 200 compensation to two customers, who suffered food poisoning after eating at the restaurant.
Case files indicate the employee used expired yoghurt as dressing for the salad served to the two customers, who later complained of severe abdominal pains, headache and vomiting. The victims were rushed to the hospital twice.
Although the employee repeatedly denied using expired yoghurt, the court discovered, through the pieces of evidence presented by the lawyer of the plaintiff, that the yoghurt was not fit for human consumption.
Moreover, the restaurant’s manager issued contradictory statements. He initially claimed the empty yoghurt container was not in the restaurant but he later retracted.
The Eighth Administrative Court, headed by Judge Nasser Al-Athari, cancelled the decision of the dean of Students Affairs at the Kuwait University to expel a student from the College of Science.
It has been reported the dean ordered the expulsion of the student on Jan 31 for allegedly violating the academic regulations during the elections at the college.
Attorney Al-Humaidi Al-Shubaie, who represented the student in court said, the decision lacks legal backing. After weighing the arguments and pieces of evidence presented by both sides, the court ruled in favor of the student.
