‘No cash until workers paid’ Govt-tied firms warned

KUWAIT CITY, June 23: Companies which have contracts with ministries or any government authority will not be paid their financial dues until they pay their workers. A directive to this effect was issued by the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Dr Mohammad Al-Afasi, reports Al-Mustaqbal daily.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet asked all ministries and government authorities to give a detailed report to the Finance Ministry on donations or funds they received from donors for a certain cause or activity. The reports should mention the sum, the date of receiving the donation and the purpose. Also, the reports should be submitted before September this year.
The Cabinet also asked all government authorities not to directly approach the Civil Service Commission (CSC) for hiring senior officials. It said the demands should be told to the State Minister for Cabinet Affairs who in turn will notify the Cabinet.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor has specified conditions for the charity organizations on the collection of used clothes donations, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting Charity Administration head Ahmad Al-Sane’e.
Al-Sane’e confirmed the ministry has approved the request of 10 charity organizations to collect used clothes. He said a mechanism has been put in place for these organizations to collect used clothes and sell them to generate funds for their charity works. He explained the clothes will be sold by the charity organizations set up by certain government agencies, as well as their boards of directors. He added the ministry has instructed the organizations to submit a detailed accounting report on their revenues to ensure transparency.
