Blocs plan to submit another grilling request against PM MPs to hold ‘Decision Wednesday’ rally

KUWAIT CITY, June 21: Popular Action Bloc (PAB) opposition MP, Khaled Al-Tahous, announced on Tuesday that his bloc will submit another grilling request against the prime minister following the no-confidence motion vote on Thursday. Al-Tahous said that he will submit the request with MP Musallam Al-Barrak as well as MP Faisal Al-Muslim from the Development and Reform Bloc (DRB). The joint grilling will be on Audit Bureau reports and court cases.

Opposition MPs are scrambling to pressure independent MPs and convince them to approve the no-confidence motion against His Highness the Prime Minister, Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah, with diwaniyas set-up for citizens of all constituencies. Fourth constituency residents have announced that they will visit MP Hussein Mezyad’s diwaniya on Wednesday and pressure him to vote for against the PM.
To date, 18 MPs are said to be in support of the non-cooperation motion against the PM. However, a number of the anti-government MPs such as Faisal Al-Muslim, Musallam Al-Barrak and Waleed Al-Tabtabaei have expressed their confidence that the number of MPs in favor of the motion will exceed 20.
The MPs who comprise of the PAB, the DRB and Abdulrahman Al-Anjari of the National Action Bloc (NAB) along with a number of independent and Salafi MPs, are scheduled to hold a ‘Decision Wednesday’ rally in Al-Irada Square with youth activist group ‘Nahj’.

Furthermore, opposition and independent MP Shuaib Al-Muwaizri, has revealed on Tuesday the list of patients who were admitted into UK and German hospitals abroad at the expense of the prime minister. Al-Muwaizri had accused the PM of “punishing” him for signing the non-cooperation motion by scrapping his decision to send patients recommended by the MP for treatment abroad, while sending abroad patients recommended by MPs who support the prime minister.. He said that Kuwaiti citizens and their lives should not be used as a tool for political settlements.

Al-Muwaizi said that this is evidence that his allegations are correct and requested the PM to respond directly on the accusations that he was attempting to buy the loyalty of members of parliament through favors.

Meanwhile, MP Musallam Al-Barrak said that he has gathered the signatures of the majority of MPs for a petition seeking the approval of allowances made to teachers and students before the end of the current legislative round. The bill is scheduled for discussion during the June 28 parliamentary session after state budgets are approved.
Al-Barrak said that those who have not signed the petition or were away from the National Assembly have promised to vote in support of the bill.
