KUWAIT CITY, June 20: Ministry of Electricity and Water has canceled all tenders related to prepaid meters, paving the way for smart meters that were previously recommended by the committee set up for that purpose, reports Al-Kuwaitiya daily.

The daily quoting the ministry’s Undersecretary for Planning and Training Misha’an Al-Otaibi pointed out that the smart meters will be able to evaluate the consumption accurately, and the initiative is rooted in the fact that prepaid meters have lost relevance in light of development at the power network, where smart meters could avoid power outage and determine details of the load and distribution.
Al-Otaibi confirmed that the ministry has canceled the mobile power station projects since the completion of phase one of Al-Subiya Station project rendered them useless.
