Govt moves to tackle gambling on Internet
KUWAIT CITY, June 11: The Criminal Investigations Department of the Interior Ministry has been conducting intense investigations and will prepare a report on the growing trend of gambling on the Internet, reports Al-Anba daily.
A knowledgeable source said thousands of youths of different nationalities are gambling through social networking sites like Facebook and other chat sites. The youths play Poker, Black Jack and Roulette by purchasing virtual money in return of real money, he said, adding there are about 400 people who sell virtual money in Kuwait and run gambling businesses through the Internet.
The source said those selling virtual money will be arrested and legal action will be taken against them.
Duo held with drugs: Ahmadi police arrested two Kuwaitis in possession of 10 grams of heroin and referred them to authorities, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The Kuwaitis were traveling in a car and their nervousness on seeing a police vehicle gave them away.
Meanwhile, Ahmadi patrolmen arrested a GCC national in possession of 10 narcotic pills, the daily added.
The GCC national was initially stopped for driving recklessly on the Fahaheel Expressway.
Free-for-all in hospital: Police have arrested 13 youngsters, including six who sustained stab injuries, for fighting in Jahra Hospital, reports Al-Rai daily.
A police source said a fight broke out among a number of youngsters and they used sharp objects against one another. Consequently, some of them had to be referred to the hospital for treatment. But the youths are said to have resumed their fight in the hospital.
