Airport officer acquitted in drug use, trafficking case
KUWAIT CITY, June 9: The Criminal Court acquitted a police officer working at the airport of charges of possessing drugs for consumption and trading purposes.
Lawyer Najeeb Al-Waqyan defended the suspect, saying the search warrant issued against his client was illegal. He also pointed to the report of the Criminal Investigations Department which said there were no traces of any drug, alcohol or narcotic substance in his body. The lawyer said the arresting officer wrongly implicated his client to settle a quarrel he had with the client prior to the incident. Al-Waqyan asked the Public Prosecution to do its home work properly in issues like this.
Driver inebriated: Police have arrested an unidentified Kuwaiti man for driving his vehicle under the influence of alcohol, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily said a police patrol saw them man driving recklessly in Qosour and ordered him to pull over.
When an officer walked to the man and demanded to see his driving license and car registration documents, he got the smell of alcohol. The man has been detained at a police station.
Don’t leave car on: Police are looking for an unidentified person for stealing the car of an Arab man, reports Al-Rai daily.
In his complaint to the police the victim said he kept the car in operation and entered a bakery and when he returned after a few minutes he saw a youth behind the wheel.
He screamed at the youth to stop and grabbed the vehicle. The youth allegedly dragged the man for a few meters until the man let go off the car. The man was taken to a hospital with bruises.
