Bid to smuggle in large quantity of liquor foiled 4,776 bottles unclaimed for months seized

KUWAIT CITY, June 8:  The Customs officials at Shuaiba Port recently foiled an attempt to smuggle 4,776 bottles of liquor into the country.
Acting on a tip-off, Director General of the Customs General Department Ibrahim Al-Ghanim instructed a team of customs officers to monitor the shipment.  However, when the shipment arrived at the port, no one came to claim it and it stayed there for more than 90 days. 
The officers opened the container where they found 450 cartons containing a total of 4,776 bottles of liquor.  A case was registered and investigations are in progress to identify those behind the smuggling of such a large quantity of liquor.
Meanwhile, Al-Ghanim lauded the customs officers for successfully intercepting the smuggled liquor.

Shepherd killed: A Bangladeshi shepherd died after he allegedly stepped on a landmine in the Khobara Al-Awazem desert, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Acting on information personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department rushed to the location and referred the remains to Forensics.

According to reports the suspect convinced the victim to join a profitable business and allegedly ‘disappeared’ after receiving the money.

Thief caught: Police have arrested a Jordanian man and are looking for his accomplice for attempting to break into a shop selling computers, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to security sources a police patrol on routine duty saw the thieves attempting to break into the shop in Hawalli and managed to grab one of the men while the other escaped on foot.

Cheated for jobs: Police have arrested two Egyptians for swindling a number of compatriots by promising to help them get jobs and rendering other services, reports Al-Anba daily.
Police records show both men hold university certificates and are unemployed.

Sponsor robbed: Police are looking for an Asian housemaid who is said to have escaped from her sponsor’s home after stealing KD 1,200 cash and jewelry, reports Al-Anba daily.
The female Kuwaiti sponsor allegedly works as teacher. She has filed a complaint with the Jahra Police Station.
