Pay increase for teachers to be discussed with Assembly panel Exam results to be announced on June 12

KUWAIT CITY, June 8, (KUNA): Teachers’ pay raise is to be examined with parliamentary committee for education and finance, Minister of Education and Higher Education Ahmad Al-Mulaifi said on Wednesday.
Speaking to the press during visits to local schools, Al-Mulaifi hoped that such issue would result in a fruitful outcome for teachers as a means of encouragement which in turn would reflect positively on the educational scene in the country bringing more developments for the educators and students alike.

Providing teachers with a positive atmosphere and incentives would encourage productivity and innovation and such would help in excelling the status of education, said the official, adding that the Ministry would seek more development in other aspect such as school curriculums and others.

On a different account, Undersecretary for Public Education Mona Al-Lugani said that Kindergarten teachers’ work schedule would be from eight a.m. till 10 p.m. local-time.

Meanwhile, on the sidelines of Tuesday’s National  Assembly session, MP Dr  Ali Al-Omair  met with the Minister of  Education  and Higher Education  Ahmad Al-Mulaifi and asked him about the news item published in some  local dailies on deletion of  the passage regarding the ‘visit to cemetery’ from the  curriculum  of   the 9th  grade, and Al-Mulaifi denied the rumor, stressing that issues of this nature mustn’t be subjected to parliamentary inquisition and political pressure, reports  Al-Rai daily.

Meanwhile, instructor of Islamic  Education  in Ministry of Education  Ahmad  Al-Mulaifi  said  the Islamic  Education    curricula  has  been   drafted   in line with the general  document  adopted by the  Ministry  in 2004.
