Residents cannot go without paying their traffic fines: GTD
KUWAIT CITY, June 7: Director of the Traffic Violations Department at the General Traffic Department (GTD), Colonel Mohsen Al-Khayyal has said the department will soon introduce a new system to collect traffic fines at all exit points.
Al-Khayyal disclosed the GCC citizens and expatriates will not be permitted to leave the country unless they pay the money they owe the GTD.
To facilitate the collection of fines, the GTD has made all the necessary arrangement and the needed staff is being trained in this regard, he added.
Al-Khayyal added GTD has begun collecting fines and fees through a network linked with various government departments and no official transactions can be completed unless money owed to the GTD is paid.
Al-Khayyal pointed out the GTD has completed a project through which motorists will be notified of traffic violations so that the concerned person is aware of how much money he/she has to pay the GTD.
Al-Khayyal added expatriates who commit three serious violations will be deported upon a decision to be issued by the Minister of Interior.
