KUWAIT CITY, May 29: An unidentified juvenile who reportedly stole an expensive cell phone from a shop last March and gifted it to his mother, has been arrested by police, reports Al-Rai daily.
The daily added when the owner filed a complaint with the police, securitymen tracked down the incoming and outgoing calls and arrested the woman who was using the phone.
The woman was taken into custody and during interrogation she said the phone was given to her as a gift by her son.
When the son was summoned for interrogation, he admitted to stealing it from a shop. The son has been referred to the concerned authorities.
Imposter nabbed: Police have arrested a Kuwaiti man who had been sentenced in absentia for three years imprisonment for impersonating police, sometimes acting as secretary of a member of a ruling family and at other times as official working in a ministry, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to reports the man posing as different people had looted KD 70,000 from his victims. He was also wanted by law in connection with nine criminal offences.
Lankan held in drug-peddling: A Sri Lankan man was apprehended by anti-narcotic officers for the possession of 100 grams of heroin, 50 narcotic pills, envelopes and KD 700 cash. The officers had followed the directives of Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Security Affairs Major General Sheikh Ahmad Al-Khalifa and managed to arrest the suspect.
Apparently, Sheikh Khalifa received a tip-off about the suspect who worked at a restaurant in Khaitan and reportedly used the company vehicle for drug peddling activities. A team led by Colonel Yousef Al-Khalid was formed to monitor the suspect and bring him to justice. As a result, an undercover agent approached him as a prospective buyer of 3 grams of heroin, but he discerned the deal could be a plot to nail him and tried to back out.
It was then the detective used a warrant he had obtained from the Public Prosecution to search the suspect, during which the aforementioned items were confiscated. He was arrested immediately and referred to the relevant authority. Later, he confessed to working for an inmate in the Central Prison.
In another case, police arrested a man in possession of two pieces of hashish and 20 narcotic pills in the parking lot of a cooperative society in Jaber Al-Ali area. He was referred to authorities for further action.
