Asian arrested for sheltering, exploiting illegal expatriates Kuwaiti cheated by ‘royal’ in luxury car deal
KUWAIT CITY, May 24: Police have arrested an Asian man, who is believed to be in his 50s, for sheltering residence law violators, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to reports the man charged each person KD 30, found them work in farms in Wafra and received 50 percent of their wages.
One residence law violator reportedly made use of the grace period granted by the ministry and informed the authorities about the activities of the man which led to his arrest.
Beggars have ideas: Police have arrested three Arabs for begging for alms. They were caught near a commercial complex in Jahra, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to reports one beggar carried papers purportedly issued by medical authorities showing his wife is suffering from cancer.
The beggars have been referred to the authorities prior to their deportation from the country.
Kuwaiti cheated by ‘royal’ in luxury car deal: A Kuwaiti man has filed a complaint with the police accusing a member of the ruling family of cheating him, reports Al-Rai daily.
A police source said the Sheikh agreed to exchange his luxurious German-made car with the car of the complainant in addition to KD 5,000 to be paid by the latter.
However, when the buyer went to a GTD to complete the transfer formalities, he was told that the car which the Sheikh exchanged was reported stolen in Germany.
The man requested the Sheikh to return his money and car but the latter refused on the ground the deal had been completed and was valid.
The Sheikh will be summoned for interrogation. A report on the incident has been sent to the Kuwaiti Interpol.
Spy or terrorist: The Ministry of Defense has disclosed that a warrant officer in the Kuwait Navy has been referred to the Military intelligence because he allegedly belongs to a spy cell or a terrorist network, reports Al-Anba daily quoting knowledgeable sources.
The sources said the officer has been taken into custody on the strength of the messages found on his cell phone.
One of the messages said a meeting had been slated to be held at a chalet or a livestock pen. There are also messages sent by different people.
The officer was taken into custody because according to some sources he became rich overnight and the authorities knew something was amiss.
The daily added several MPs reportedly tried in vain to release the officer.
