Love-lorn youth stabs himself in desperation Lonely widow drinks pesticide in suicide bid

KUWAIT CITY, May 23: An unidentified frustrated youth allegedly tried in vain to commit suicide by stabbing himself with a knife because he could not marry the Arab woman he loved, reports Al-Rai daily.
The youth tried to commit suicide inside his home in Andalus. According to the youth’s father, the would-be fiancée called the youth and told him the marriage should take place in the month of May 2011.
The youth felt he was not prepared and desperation crept in and he decided to end his life.
He has been admitted to a hospital.

Widow attempts suicide:  A 52-year-old Arab woman recently attempted to end her life by swallowing pesticide inside her son’s home in Jahra, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to reports when the son and his wife returned home, they saw the mother sprawled on the floor.
The woman was rushed to a hospital and given stomach wash. From her hospital bed she reportedly said after the death of her husband she felt lonely and did not wish to live any longer.

‘Royal’ in police garb: Police have arrested a male member of the ruling family for impersonating police and referred him to the authorities, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to a police source a Kuwaiti man and his wife were riding in a car in the capital governorate and the Sheikh ordered the man behind the wheel to pull over and asked to see their identification documents.
The Kuwaiti had a doubt because he neither produced his ID nor had a police flasher light on his car.
The Kuwaiti immediately contacted the Operations Department of the Ministry of Interior and police who rushed to the spot arrested the Sheikh.

From thief to drug-runner: A Syrian expatriate previously jailed for two-years on theft related cases was recently apprehended by anti-narcotic officers for peddling in drugs. Apparently, the suspect had been released from deportation center through the Amiri amnesty and joined the drug business.
Sources said the officers acted on a tip-off the Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Security Affairs, Major General Ahmad Al-Khalifa received on activities of the suspect, where an officer from the team of detectives formed to bring the suspect to justice managed to lure him to sell 4 grams of heroin for KD 100. The Syrian was later arrested in Khaitan area, as he delivered the contraband and the detective paid for it with marked currency.
The suspect led police to his apartment in the same area where additional 80 grams of heroin and 750 narcotic pills were retrieved. He named his accomplice as a Pakistani national serving a term in the Central Prison, who he said, had supplied the drugs for sale.
In the meantime, the Pakistani inmate will be called for interrogation to determine how he obtained drugs he had allegedly supplied to the suspect.


Gold thief nabbed:
The Jahra police have arrested a bedoun youth for stealing KD 9,000 worth jewelry from a shop, reports Al-Anba daily. According to reports the suspect asked to see the jewelry, and at an opportune time grabbed it and escaped on foot.
As soon as a complaint was filed, police rushed to the spot and cordoned off the entire area and arrested the suspect in a very short time. At the time of the arrest the thief was still in possession of the loot.
