Armed robber attacks exchange shop, makes away with KD 25,000
KUWAIT CITY, May 20: An Iranian expatriate working as cashier was shot by an armed robber who attacked him inside an unidentified money exchange center in Fahaheel area and made away with KD 25,000 cash. The culprit, with his accomplice believed to be in their 20s, are said to have fled the scene after the incident.
Apparently, the Operations Room was tipped-off about a possible robbery at the exchange center and security forces were deployed to the scene immediately. The Iranian was referred to a hospital for treatment, whereas Criminal Evidences men lifted fingerprints to trail the thieves.
According to the injured cashier, it was around 10:00pm and he was about to close for the day when suddenly, a masked man entered the shop holding a pistol who started firing shots, in the course of which the cashier was hit in the shoulder. The thief grabbed KD 25,000 from the safe and escaped in a white colored jeep, driven by another person who was waiting for him outside the shop. The man provided police with description of the suspects, as well as the registration number of their car.
In the meantime, the major exits and entrances to the area were surrounded by security operatives to arrest the suspects. A case has since been registered for investigation.
Meanwhile, an Egyptian man working at a fuel station in Ahmadi has been admitted to the intensive care unit of the Adan Hospital, reports Annahar daily.
He was allegedly shot in the thigh by an unidentified drive by motorist in a Japanese car.
No motive for the shooting has been given but according to a security source, when the Ahmed police received information on the incident they rushed to the scene and found the victim on the ground bleeding profusely.
Police are looking for the shooter.
Maid fails in suicide bid: A 30-year-old Indian maid who tried in vain to end her life by consuming a large quantity of medicines and insecticides was rushed to the Mubarak Al-Kabir Hospital and given stomach wash, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
According to a security source the Operations Department of the Interior Ministry dispatched help when it received a report that the woman was attempting to end her life inside her sponsor’s home in Bayan.
A case of attempted suicide has been registered against her.
Police looking for 2 youths: The Hawalli police are looking for two youths driving a sports car for allegedly attempting to kidnap and rape a young Kuwaiti woman, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
The daily added the information about the vehicle and the youths has been circulated to all police patrols and security authorities.
According to a security source, the incident took place Wednesday in Salmiya. When the woman was allegedly walking to her car two well-built youths wearing sports gear surprised her and attempted to bundle her in their vehicle.
The woman screamed for help and when passersby rushed to her rescue, the youths got into their vehicle and escaped.
The information about the car and the youths has been provided to the police by eyewitnesses. A case has been registered against the youths at the Salmiya Police Station.
