KUWAIT CITY, May 19: Security officers from the General Immigration Department arrested a Pakistani for forging documents and selling visit visas at KD 1,000 each.
Acting on a tip-off, the securitymen put the Pakistani under surveillance for some time, leading to his arrest. Preliminary investigations revealed the suspect had earlier sold 10 visit visas to unsuspecting ‘patrons’.
During interrogations, the suspect admitted that he changed the names on the visit visas and sold them for KD 1,000 each. He was referred to the concerned security department for prosecution.
All in ‘cahoots’ : The Kuwaiti owner of a trading company complained about the lack of action by officials in the Ministries of Interior and Social Affairs on the issue of visa trading, reports Al-Moustaqbal daily.
Saleh Al-Khumairi owns a general trading and contracting company managed by his Syrian partner who allegedly turned the company into a profiteering business in his own interest. Al-Khumairi said his partner has used the company as cover-up to sell resident visas to people who are not working in his company.
According to Al-Khumairi, he referred the issue to the relevant authorities immediately after he discovered the scam, but officials he met, unfortunately frowned on the move he adopted. He is surprised that files proving the records of fake employees have disappeared from the Ministry of Social Affairs, whereas the immigration detective officer at the General Immigration Directorate declined to receive his complaint. He was allegedly threatened to face the Public Prosecution if he persists with the case.
