Wataniya fire aces to keep top spot Maidan Clinic close on their trail

KUWAIT CITY, May 9: Wataniya continued playing at their best level to notch 54 wins and 157 points to retain the driver’s seat while close on their trail were Maidan Clinic and McDonalds on 48 wins but had scored 142 & 141 points respectively for 2nd and 3rd places after the 2nd week of 20th Filipino Badminton Associa-tion in Ahmadi (FBAA) Conference “5th Hankook Tires Cup”, at the Fahaheel Sports Center, Friday.
Meanwhile, Hankook Tires had so far collected 46 wins and 133 points, with Worley Parsons compiling 42 wins and 129 points, Western Union 37 wins and 112 points, AMEC 36 wins and 85 points, NLB Corp 32 wins and 107 points and SK Engineering were in the last spot with 31 wins and 99 points.

Men’s A
In Men’s A, Wataniya tied Mc Donalds 2 wins and 6 points after Rowx Bugas and Bon Elamparo wasted no time to beat Ed Antonio and Francis Enriquez 15-13, 15-10 while Rowx with Mike Florendo brushed aside Ed and Dave Laguio 15-10, 15-11. Mc Donalds bounced back through Dave and Emil Millanar as they overcame Mike and Jerry Labagnoy 16-14, 15-6 while Francis and Emil tamed Bon and Jerry 15-7, 15-13.
Hankook Tires acquired a 3-1 win and 9-3 points against NLB Corp when Albert Marcelo and Joms Tantiangco outlasted Sheikh Ibrahim and Philip Marimla 15-5, 10-15, 15-11 while Albert and Nikka Mae Hatoum thumped Sheikh and Zahidul Islam 15-12, 15-10 and the tandem of Joms and Tony Osea hammered Philip and JP Parayno 15-11, 15-8. Zahidul and JP saved the day for NLB when they fought wisely to edge Nikka and Tony 18-16, 11-15, 15-12.
AMEC generated a 3-1 win and 7-5 points against Worley Parsons driven by Forp Alonzo and Anthony Mendoza who outlasted Joshua Lagran and Sonny Cajipe 15-7, 5-15, 15-4 while Jong Rimando and Gerry Aguilar edged Allan Bondoc and Sunil Raj 11-15, 17-15, 15-9 and one match was won by default. Worley Parsons scored thru Joshua and Allan who brushed aside Forp and Jong in back to back sets 15-12, 15-12.
SK Engineering compiled a 3-1 win and 9-3 points against McDonalds when Joenel Seva and William Naoe beat Ed and Francis 15-11, 15-10 while Marvin de Luna and Ron Margate blended well on the courts to overcome Dave and Emil in 2 extended sets 15-13, 19-17 and Joenel with Marvin tamed Ed and Dave 15-8, 15-13. McDonalds won one match by default.
Later that day, Wataniya accomplished a 3-1 win and collected 9-3 points against AMEC as Rowx and Bon thrashed Forp and Jong 15-8, 15-6, Rowx and Mike crushed Forp and Anthony 15-10, 15-12 and Bon with Jerry outlasted Jong and Gerry 11-15, 15-10, 15-10. McDonalds compiled a 3-1 win and 8-4 points against NLB Corp when Mokbul Hussein and Tim Torres outlasted Rommel Carlos and Kenjie Corpuz 15-10, 7-15, 15-6, Annie Blouin and Aileen Perez edged Maricel Romano and Daisy Balungaya 12-15, 15-11, 16-14 and Mokbul with Annie wasted no effort to thrash Rommel and Maricel 15-6, 15-6.
