Jade Garden score first win of season Ali Abdull-Wahab down Popeyes KAFCO

KUWAIT CITY, May 08: Jade Garden Restaurant put up a splendid performance with Mel, Ronald and Gerry netting a combined total of 32 points to register their first win in the league so, far beating Apollo Realtors 61-55 in the fiercely fought open division clash as the 25th Conference of the Western Union/Philippines Am-ateur Basketball Associa-tion (PABAK) continued Friday at the Hawally Disabled Sports Club.
The first quarter of the game looked like Apollo were going to have an easy ride over their opponents, with Shane leading the charge to rope in most of the points, of course with the support of his team mates who were very selfless in their string of passes of the ball. The Jade Garden boys after a brief time out with their coach changed their pattern of play and instantly altering the game’s momentum in their favor in the second quarter, leading by 19-9.
This game of equals got heated in the final minutes as both teams rallied their players to to ensure victory but Jaded Garden eventually came out winners, walking away with a 61-55 point final result in their favor, despite strong performance from Apollo’s offense trio Alvin, Leo and Shane who together contributed a respectable 31 points to their team’s total tally.
Ali Abdull-Wahab 58, Popeyes KAFCO 50
The contest between Ali Abdul Wahab and Popeyes KAFCO got underway with Abdul-Wahab’s Jeffrey making a long throw of the ball after a few steps from the center line into the opponent’s basket, thus drawing the first blood in the game. Popeye’s Villablanca, in an attempt to make a similar fast move was obstructed by the Abdul-Wahab defense, resulting in Afree throw which Mark Viray perfectly converted with maximum points. At the end of the second quarter, the score was 11-9 in KAFCO’s favor, but as the hostilities continued, the Abdul-Wahab 11 man team, which was vastly out numbered by the 16-man Popeyes KAFCO team, revised their strategy and were often seen making very aggressive tackles and breaking through the opponents defenses, which finally saw them come out tops, ending the game with 58-50 score line in their favor, thanks to the untiring runs of Plavino, Joseph and Jerry who together netted a total of 29 points to seal ensure seal the victory for their side. Worthy of mention on the KAFCO side as well were Erwin, Mark Dandred who fought gallantly for their team and lost narrowly.
KEO 75, Electrozan 65
In the first minutes of the encounter between KEO and Electrozan, the game seemed like a clash of equals as the shots flew in both directions without pause, ending the first quarter with both teams tying at 22-22. As the exchanges continued it became clear after the third quarter that team KEO were headed for an eventual victory as their shots became more accurate and defense more robust. KEO ended up the winning side with a 75-65 final outcome, though Electrozan also played well to the end with little luck on their side.
