Raid nets 12 Asian call traders Liquor-filled bags seized
KUWAIT CITY, May 8: The Farwaniya police during a massive security campaign in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh against violators of law and vice are said to have arrested 12 Asians for robbing telephone lines and offering illegal overseas call services, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
Police have confiscated from the illegal service providers wireless communication devices and computers, routers, decoders, stop watches, and referred them to authorities.
Police also arrested an Asian man for trading in locally-manufactured booze. He was allegedly caught in the act, reports Alam Alyawm daily.

3-ton safe stolen: Police are looking for burglars who allegedly broke into a company in Khaitan and stole a three-ton safe containing KD 63,000 and some documents, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to reports on two earlier occasions the thieves attempted to steal the safe but could not due to its weight. The daily quoting sources said on both occasions the police were informed but security authorities took no action.
The thieves reportedly cut the door of the company using a gas cutter and then cut off the electric supply to disable the CCTV cameras installed on the premises.
The thieves also dragged the safe 15 meters with the help of a tow truck before escaping with it.
It is strange the theft took place adjacent to a government establishment which works 24 hours a day.
Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprits.
Snapping vital spots: Four youths who had been arrested for taking pictures of vital establishments in downtown Kuwait City, have been released after their parents signed pledges that their children will not commit the offence again, reports Al-Rai daily.
The suspects — a Sudanese, a Syrian, a Yemeni and an Egyptian — are all believed to be between 16 and 17 years old were reportedly caught red-handed by a police patrol while on routine duty.
The suspects were initially taken to the Shamiya Police Station and later released.
