‘Broader efforts’
Following is the statement on Bin Laden issued by the US Ambassador to Kuwait Deborah K. Jones:
“Osama bin Laden was responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocents — men, women and children — of many faiths, including Islam, and in countries around the world. The mission’s success is a testament to the patient and painstaking work that has been accomplished by countless intelligence and counter-terrorism professionals across the US government, and consistent with President Obama’s long-standing commitment to take action against bin Laden. The United States is not, and never will be, at war with Islam. We are at war with al-Qaeda, a terrorist organization that is committed to killing as many innocents as it can. Osama bin Laden’s defeat marks the end of one chapter in our effort to disrupt, dismantle and defeat al-Qaeda. It should also serve notice that we will be relentless until that broader effort is complete.
“We look forward to continuing to cooperate with Kuwait on countering all common threats, including al-Qaeda.”
