Conman swindles KD 400,00 from ex-army officer

KUWAIT CITY, April 25: Police have arrested an unidentified person for swindling a retired Major-General to the tune of KD 400,000, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The victim in his complaint to the police said the suspect convinced him that he holds a senior position in the Ministry of Planning and lured him to join a business venture to sell diesel to Iraq.
The complainant added after he paid the man the money to start the business, he took the money and ‘disappeared’.
The man was arrested in a suburb of Sharq after police set a trap for him. Police investigations reveal the suspect is a conman and is wanted by law for fraud and in dud cheques issues.
The suspect is unemployed and during interrogation has admitted to committing 15 frauds.
The daily added among the man’s victims are three retired officers and three doctors. Each of them has allegedly lost more than KD 150,000.


Rare pigeons stolen: Police are looking for an unidentified person for sneaking into a livestock pen in Kabad belonging to a Kuwaiti man and stealing with 75 rare pigeons believed to be worth KD 35,000, reports Al-Rai daily.
Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprits.

Kuwaiti assaulted:
Police have arrested three youths for consuming alcohol and assaulting a Kuwaiti man in Da’iya, reports Al-Rai daily.
Acting on information police rushed to the area and separated the fighters. Police also discovered the youths were under the influence of alcohol. They have been referred to the authorities.
