Police arrest two for men swindling KD 21,000 from tours & travels firm
KUWAIT CITY, April 22: Police from the Capital governorate have arrested two men - a citizen and an expatriate — for impersonating representatives of Arab Union for Counterfeit and Forgery affiliated to Arab League and swindled KD 21,000 from a tours and travels company, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to a security source, the legal representative of the company reported to the Salhiya Police Station that the two men bought tickets and booked hotel at a cost of KD 21,000 for one of the delegations of an Arab country and after receiving the tickets and making the hotel booking disappeared.
When police began investigations based on the identification documents provided by the fraudsters, the CID personnel discovered the men had produced an ID belonging to a citizen.
The citizen was arrested and during interrogation he admitted to impersonating employees of the Arab League and collected the tickets and made hotel bookings in collusion with an Arab man. Both men are in police custody.
2 Europeans held: Two Europeans of an unidentified country who were caught taking pictures of the Palace of Justice have been arrested and detained at the Salhiya Police Station, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to reports the arrest came when a citizen called the Operations Department of the Ministry of Interior and complained about the two men who he said were taking pictures from different angles.
The men are being interrogated about their motives for taking the pictures. The State Security police have been informed about the incident.
Jewellery stolen: Police are looking for an unidentified person who allegedly broke into the home of a Kuwaiti man at an unidentified location and stole gold jewelry and bank notes of different currencies. The total value of the stolen jewelry including the money is estimated at KD 7,000, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to the complainant the theft occurred when he was visiting friends with his family.
According to the man’s neighbor he saw a SUV parked outside the house at the time the theft occurred.
