Gang of five Arab expats held for selling stolen bikes cheap Kuwaiti woman’s KD 24,000 in travel agent’s pocket

KUWAIT CITY, April 21: Police have arrested five Arabs for stealing bikes and selling them at throwaway prices, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to reports police acting on complaints filed by several people increased patrol in the area, set a trap and arrested one of the suspects while selling a stolen bike to a police agent.
During interrogation at a police station the ‘thief’ admitted to stealing the bike from an unidentified house and gave police the names and addresses of his accomplices.
During interrogation the five men are said to have admitted to committing 12 thefts.
Police records show all the men have past criminal records. They have been referred to the concerned authorities.

Woman swindled:
Police are looking for an unidentified Egyptian travel agent for breach of trust and duping a Kuwaiti woman to the tune of KD 24,000, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
According to the woman the suspect told her there were good packages for travel to European countries including accommodation in five star hotels.
The woman got carried away by the offer and gave the man money to make bookings for the entire family.
Twenty-four hours after receiving the money, the man is said to have disappeared.
The man’s name and other details have been circulated at all exit points to prevent him from leaving the country.

Big money ‘lost’: The Sal-hiya police have arrested an unidentified Iranian man for allegedly stealing KD 130,000 from a Kuwaiti, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
According to sources the Kuwaiti went to a money exchange to transfer KD 30,000 to Iran and KD 100,000 to London. After completing the transactions the same day in the evening he wanted to make sure the money has been transferred and was shocked to find out the money had not reached its destination.
The Kuwaiti then went to a police station and filed a case against the money exchange owned by the Iranian.
However, the Iranian is denying the accusation. Police are investigating the issue.

Nephew robs uncle: Pol-ice have arrested an unidentified citizen for breaking into the apartment of his uncle and stealing KD 4,000 in cash and gold jewelry worth KD 12,000, reports Al-Rai daily quoting security sources.
According to the same sources the nephew broke into the apartment when the family was away and stole the money and the valuables.
It has been reported on the day of the theft when the uncle returned home he was shocked to discover someone had entered the apartment and valuables missing.
Police interrogations show the suspect entered the apartment using a duplicate key because no force had been used to enter the apartment.
When the close relatives were summoned for interrogation the suspect panicked and during questioning admitted to breaking into the apartment.

‘Home service’: Police are looking for two veiled women for beating and stealing KD 600 from an unidentified Kuwaiti woman, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to reports this happened when the victim called a salon and asked for ‘home service’.
Before robbing the woman, the suspects allegedly tied her feet and hands behind her back and escaped. The daily did not give more details.

Bedoun nabbed: Police have arrested an unidentified bedoun for waylaying and robbing pedestrians, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to police, several people complained that two youths posing as police were robbing passersby.
Police set a trap and arrested one of the youths while the other managed to escape.
During interrogation the youth admitted to the charges filed against him and said the bedoun who escaped when police surrounded their vehicle was his partner in crime.
He also told police most of his victims were Asian workers. Police are looking for the youth who managed to escape.
