KUWAIT CITY, April 19, (Agencies): A Kuwaiti diplomat in Russia was found dead in a Moscow hospital Tuesday morning by Russian authorities, after a two-day disappearance, a senior source at Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry said.

According to Russian medical sources who vowed to provide a medical report on the deceased after ongoing investigations, the Kuwaiti Embassy’s Third Secretary, Saleh Al-Igab, died of a severe heart trauma.
Russian authorities have also vowed to quickly determine the reason for the diplomat’s disappearance, after meetings between Kuwaiti officials and the Russian Ambassador to the country.
On behalf of the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr Mohammad Sabah Al-Salim Al-Sabah, the Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Khaled Al-Jarallah and embassy staff, the source expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased.

Meanwhile, acting on instructions of His Highness the Amir, the body of deceased Al-Igab, will be flown to Kuwait on board an Amiri plane bound from Russia.

The plane will head to Moscow on Wednesday morning to collect the late diplomat’s remains, according to a senior source at Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry.

Earlier it was reported by Interfax news agency that a Kuwaiti diplomat had been found dead in central Moscow Tuesday after he was robbed of all his valuables, Interfax news agency quoted police as saying.
A police official was quoted as saying that the body of Al-Iqab, the 30-year-old third secretary at the Kuwaiti embassy in Moscow, was found near a railway track around 0830 GMT by rail workers, near the Rizhskaya platform, central Moscow.

The source said the victim’s belongings — a watch, a telephone, an unspecified amount of money and his identity papers — had been stolen.

The Kuwaiti embassy on Monday notified police of the disapperance of Al-Iqab, who was last seen leaving a restaurant in central Moscow in his Porsche 911 Carrera overnight Sunday.

A federal Investigative Committee, meanwhile is reported to have said in a website statement posted Monday that Al-Iqab died of suspected heart failure, but a probe into the death was continuing. No documents were found on the body, explaining the delay in identification.

Kuwait’s Ambassador in Moscow Nasser Haji Al-Muzayen said the embassy is in constant touch with Russian authorities and is trying to get a medical report stating the cause of Al-Iqab’s death.
He added that Kuwaiti authorities took all steps necessary to repatriate the diplomat’s body to Kuwait on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Ambassador to Kuwait Alexander Kinshchak stressed Al-Iqab died a natural death and refuted reports of some news agencies which stated that the deceased was killed. He further called on media to verify facts with the Foreign Affairs Ministry before publishing anything.

Al-Iqab was transferred from the Diwan of the Foreign Affairs Ministry to Kuwait’s Embassy in Moscow some months ago.
