KUWAIT CITY, April 18: Border Security officials arrested an 11-member gang specialized in stealing copper wires from electric poles belonging to the Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW), states a press release issued by the Interior Ministry.

Investigations revealed that the gang, which had both Kuwaiti and expatriate members, stole copper wires from electric poles supplying electricity to far off areas and sold it to some expatriates working at Amghara scrap area. The copper was sold to a company specialized in this field. Securitymen then raided the company and found a large quantity of copper, the kind used in electric poles, in its premises.
Subsequently, technicians of the MEW were called and they confirmed that the copper belonged to the ministry. The company was exporting the copper illegally.
Wolves on prowl: Police are looking for an Arab man for molesting a 31-year-old Kuwaiti woman, reports Al-Rai daily.
In her complaint to the Farwaniya police the woman said she offered to sell her cell phone and when a salesman refused to buy it, the Arab man who happened to be there offered to give a good price and requested the woman to drive him to his nearby home to give her the money.
The source added the man brought money from his apartment while the woman waited on the ground floor in front of the elevator.
When she handed over the phone he allegedly grabbed her and pulled her inside the elevator and touched her breasts. He escaped when she screamed for help.
Expatriate not a cheat, says court: The Cassation Court, presided over by Judge Naif Al-Mutairat, acquitted an expatriate of swindling.
It has been reported the Court of Appeals upheld the verdict of the Court of First Instance, which had earlier imposed a six-month jail term on the accused to be followed by deportation.
This came after the Public Prosecution charged the expatriate of convincing the plaintiff to invest in a construction project without giving him the agreed profits.
However, the lawyer for the accused - Attorney Ali Al-Asfour - argued in court that his client had no intention to cheat the plaintiff. He also pointed out that the elements of crime mentioned in the lawsuit are not valid.
Speaking to reporters after the announcement of the ruling, Al-Asfour expressed his gratitude to the Kuwaiti judicial system, particularly the Cassation Court, for ensuring justice for all.
Niece molested: The Hawalli police have arrested an unidentified person for allegedly molesting one niece and shooting at the other, reports Al-Rai daily.
A police source said the man molested his niece inside his home in Rumaithiya and when her sister criticized him for his dirty act and threatened to file a complaint against him, he reportedly shot at her in front of the Rumaithiya Police Station and escaped.
When the victim’s mother filed a complaint with the Salwa Police Station the man was arrested at an unidentified location. At the time of the arrest he was still in possession of the gun.
