Raise in housing allowance for expat teachers mulled Teachers to pocket major salary increase from May after CSC nod

KUWAIT CITY, April 17: The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has approved new salary scales for school teachers and asked the Ministry of Education to start pay out procedures, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Sources say teachers will receive the KD 240 raise with their May month salaries and added that the increment will be paid in retroactive effect from March.
Meanwhile, the acting Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mudhi Al-Humoud denied rumors that financial benefits for expatriate teachers will be cancelled, saying there will no modifications or additions to these benefits, reports Al-Anba daily.
In response to a question regarding the demands of the expatriate teachers association, Al-Humoud said the ministry deals with one recognized and legal entity which is the Kuwait Teachers Society, and stressed that her efforts to pass financial benefits for expatriate teachers started in 2009 and that she still insists on getting these benefits approved.
Furthermore, Al-Seyassah daily quoted the minister as saying that expatriate teachers are likely to get a housing allowance of KD 150 instead of the current KD 60 to help them cope up with the rising housing expenses in Kuwait.

Raise in housing allowance for expat teachers mulled Excalibur | 4/18/2011 11:28:59 AM I do hope the teachers, especially the Expat teachers will get that raise. Imagine getting only KD60 for housing allowance. A decent apartment costs about KD200-250. I hope justice will be served for these poor teachers, it's one of the noble professions in the world.
